Mobile Shelters
A New Approach in Portable Shelter
In late 2006, Advanced Mobility developed the IMASS - an Integrated Mobile Airbeam Shelter System. By combining the most durable shelter with fully integrated support components, Advanced Mobility's IMASS is the ideal solution for climate controlled, portable shelter wherever it's needed. IMASS applications include:
- Disaster Management and Emergency Response, especially where additional command and control space is necessary
- Mobile Field Hospitals and other mobile health needs
- Remote Service Scenarios, especially in bad weather
- Civic Events such as festivals, blood drives, races, and outdoor concerts
The IMASS performs especially well when the situation calls for:
Fast Deployment The IMASS can be fully deployed within 30 minutes, including HVAC, power, and lights. The shelter alone deploys semi-automatically in less than 10 minutes. At 5000 pounds or less, the IMASS trailer can be towed behind a pickup truck or van.Durability The IMASS shelter was recently chosen by the US Army’s Force Providers for the next generation of Expeditionary Base Camps due to the high durability of the tents and airbeams. Because the unique high pressure airbeam is an all-cloth solution, the incidence of mechanical failure is low – even over dozens and hundreds of erect/strike/storage cycles.
Reliability The unique, semi-automatic deployment of the IMASS allows two people to deploy the shelter within 30 minutes without training. The highly durable and integrated construction means that there are no shelter components to lose, no poles or purlins to break. Because the airbeams are inflated to high pressures, they will not lose rigidity due to temperature fluctuations and can stand for months without additional air. The unique construction ensures that, in the unlikely event of a puncture (from a bullet or shrapnel), the airbeam will not explode.
Performance in Extreme Weather The IMASS shelter has been deployed in extreme heat and cold and is guaranteed to maintain a comfortable climate from -30 to +130 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of the strength of the airbeams, IMASS can withstand sustained 65 mph winds and support 10 psf snowloads.
