IMASS Frequently Asked Questions
- Why did Advanced Mobility develop the IMASS? There are already plenty of other tents and shelters on the market.
- True, there are plenty of shelters available. None offer the unique combination of integrated support components, fast deployment, durability and reliability that the IMASS offers.
Back to Top - How is a high pressure airbeam different from other airbeams?
- Some shelters are supported by low pressure airbeams. These airbeams deploy quickly because less air is needed, however the low pressure does not support the shelter in high winds or under heavy rain or snow. When deployed overnight, low pressure airbeams often require additional air pressure as they fluctuate over temperature cycles.
Back to Top - Aren’t all tents basically the same?
- No. Few can withstand the rigors of the US Army’s Force Providers testing. Most rely on mechanical devices, such as poles and purlins, for support. Only the IMASS offers a high pressure airbeam, all-cloth solution that’s proven to deploy reliably, time and again, regardless of the environment.
Back to Top - What size shelters are available?
- The standard IMASS shelters are 32 feet by 20 feet (640 square feet). Larger sizes are available by custom order, or any of the IMASS shelters can be combined to provide more sheltered space.
Back to Top - What size HVAC and generator units are available?
- HVAC and generator units are sized to fit the mission depending on climate and electrical requirements.
Back to Top - What accessories are available?
- The IMASS is offered with a variety of doors, vestibules, lights, HVAC and generator options, and other popular accessories. We can also custom integrate to a variety of existing shelters and functional structures.
Back to Top - Can I rent an IMASS?
- Yes, the IMASS is available for rent in Illinois and Indiana. We will also consider rentals in other locations depending on availability.
Back to Top - How can the IMASS be deployed by two people without training?
- The IMASS is SIMPLE. Two untrained personnel can follow the easy instructions, step by step, to deploy the shelter, start the Environmental Control Unit (ECU) and generator, and place the lights inside.
Back to Top - Why is the high pressure airbeam more reliable than other mechanical tent supports?
- Simply put, cloth was meant to be folded and unfolded – metal, wood and plastic are not. Mechanical supports for large shelters are inherently limited and compromised by the rigors of use, especially by untrained users or by extreme temperature. Whereas mechanical tent supports can fail over half the time, high pressure airbeams perform reliably, regardless of weather or user training, time and again.
Back to Top - What else can I do with an IMASS?
- What would you like to do with an IMASS? Because of the quick setup, reliability and durability, the IMASS meets multiple needs. Anywhere you need shelter, use the IMASS.
Back to Top - What’s the price of an IMASS?
- IMASS pricing depends on the size and type of shelter and the components included. Please contact us for a quotation at 708 235 2800 or jgernot@amstcorp.com.
Back to Top - Who else is using the IMASS?
- The US Army’s Force Providers division uses the IMASS shelter for its Expeditionary Base Camps. Other service branches are also evaluating the shelters, in addition to state and local agencies.
